Following our call for proposals for eight Canadian commissioned works, we received 115 applications from all across the country. 

The last application was registered  at 2:28 am, just 2 minutes before the closure of the call at 3:00 am !!

We are truly thrilled and honoured to have received all these applications. We want to warmly thank the composers who have submitted projects.

We are very pleased to announce that the winner of the 1st prize of the "Emerging Composers Competition", a national competition organized by Groundswell, will receive $ 1000 to create a new work for Quasar. The piece will be premiered on March 18, 2017 as part of the Cluster. New Music + Integrated Arts Festival in Winnipeg.

The deadline for submitting an application is October 7, 2017. The competition is open to all Canadian composers or permanent residents of Canada.

The 21st Century has seen technology come to the forefront of musical invention, as it has in other spheres. Digital processing in conjunction with acoustic instruments has given us a new form of art, here to stay and sure to evolve. With their passion for the music of our times and for sonic exploration, in 2003 Quasar set forth on a new adventure which would result in the inauguration of the Electro Series.
