Montreal, April 12, 2023 – Quasar saxophone quartet continues its series of collaborations celebrating the richness of international encounters and exchanges with Montréal-Mexico, a concert entirely devoted to premieres, with four works commissioned from two Canadian composers and two Mexican composers, co-presented with Le Vivier.

The 8th Electro Series takes off!

In the first week of December, our four guest composers arrived in Montreal to begin a week of creating.in residence and for the following five days Myriam Bleau, Gene Coleman, Örjan Sandred and Bertrand Dubedout (here from France!) created and explored the far reaches of electronic music.

FIERY ENCOUNTER X

We are fortunate to be back with our Fiery Encounters! For this 10th edition, we will present a round-table on the question: "Should the concert form be redefined? For whom? Why? How?". The event will take place at the Espace-Custeau of the Gesù, from 3:00 p.m. Admission is free and a drink will be offered to all members of the public.

Winner of the new music creation and dissemination residency program (offered by the Conseil des arts de Montréal and the réseau Accès culture in collaboration with Groupe Le Vivier), Quasar is participating this Fall in a series of creative residencies with the next-generation composer Brice Gatinet.

Ouvrons, tendons et prêtons l’oreille...is a project entirely dedicated to new music with a program constructed around Montreal as a sound object.

Following our call for proposals for eight Canadian commissioned works, we received 115 applications from all across the country. 

The last application was registered  at 2:28 am, just 2 minutes before the closure of the call at 3:00 am !!

We are truly thrilled and honoured to have received all these applications. We want to warmly thank the composers who have submitted projects.
