Florence M. Tremblay is a composer, cellist, and chorister from Rimouski and based in Montreal. She holds a master’s degree in composition from the Conservatoire de musique de Montréal and a bachelor’s degree in cello from the Conservatoire de musique de Rimouski. In her creative work, she is interested in rules, principles of gamification, and models borrowed from various disciplines. Her affinity for early music and her search for fluidity and continuity are expressed through her harmonic explorations, including just intonation and historical temperaments. Her interest in interdisciplinary collaborations has led her to work with poets, visual artists, an herbalist, and dancers. As a composer, she has collaborated with Ensemble Recherche, New Music Concerts, the Orchestre symphonique de l’Estuaire, Paramirabo, and the Quasar Saxophone Quartet. Her music has been performed in Paris (FR), Tinos (Greece), Toronto (ON), Montreal, at Domaine Forget de Charlevoix, and at the Concerts aux Îles du Bic festival. Outside of composition, she is active as a chorister in the early music scene and conducts creative workshops as part of the Espace Transition program with the Orchestre de l’Agora and the CHU Sainte-Justine.
