Mark Molnar

Mark Molnar is an Ottawa based instrumentalist that has played strings and electronics with Kingdom Shore, Eric Craven, Generator, and Seppuku, and erhu and rebab in Gamelan Semara Winangun. He has contributed strings and arrangements to numerous recordings, including those by Lockjaw, Buried Inside, and If Then Do, and has composed and recorded music for numerous Vision Theatre (Ottawa) and Baccus Players (Hull) theatre productions, and films by Patrick David Elise (Alteritè) and Martin Dupuis (Hopeful Monsters).
He is the founder of Black Bough Records, and the co-founder of the magazine Why We Fight with Nathan Medema and Martin Dupuis. He is also co-organizer and co-curator of the Pleasure Through Sound Festival and Music Series with Nathan Medema and Ross Birdwise, and has been a founding member of the Ottawa/Hull music association SulPont.
In 2006, he founded the group Kingdom Shore as a vehicle to tour and perform his compositions. The group has toured extensively in Ontario and Qubec, and is currently planning for a tour of the United States and Europe in 2011. Black Bough Records has released the first Kingdom Shore album …and all the dogs to shark. A 7” entitled Exodus is currently in production for a fall release, and the group is currently recording 4 compositions for string orchestra to be released in 2011.
