Max Charue

(1992 - )

Composer and percussionist, Max Charue was born in Charleroi, Belgium. Convinced of the engagement of the body to guide him through music, he uses the energy of each of his senses to listen to the world around him. He constantly discovers new cultures which he explores like a backpacker adept at a life without artifice; a life essentially focused on exchanges and encounters which influence him in his artistic approach, his writing and the percussion he uses. A mountain, a smile, a language, everything is a source of inspiration for this artist filled with a thousand and one ideas!

Driven by his thirst for creativity, he joined Claude Ledoux's class at the Royal Conservatory of Mons in 2015 and at the same time pursued a career as a percussionist. Thus, he had the chance to create Claude Ledoux's Concerto for Percussions and String Orchestra in 2016 with the ORCW, Machine Mécanique, D’orient désorienté and the Concerto for Percussions and Symphonic Orchestra of Gwenaël Grisi in 2017, with Excursions. The following years lead him to collaborate with Musiques Nouvelles, Ensemble 21, Duo Assonances and other groups for which he composes and arranges. Most recently, Max Charue received a commission from the Ars Musica Festival and an initiator of a musical theater company, "Rhythm", programmed at the Trajectoires Festival in Mons in November 2018.
