In Jalkin, the sound that shapes the work is not built as a study or a development of a defined material, but rather as an exploration of sediment or an examination of decantation. A conventional and polysemic element, with symbolic extensions that mark our memory as musicians, is set down without being consolidated; attacked by erosive agents, stripped and diminished, it reveals itself only as an emotional trace of the unspeakable. In the same way that an unexpected scent revives an involuntary memory, or an unusual vision awakens the awareness of what was forgotten, Jalkin is an attempt to capture the deposit of a sound that connects us to our memory and situates us in time.

Jalkin was commissioned by the BBVA Foundation for Sigma Project.
