SMCQ's Tribute Series
For this concert in their Montreal series, Quasar invites you to join them within the intimate drama of the quartet magnified by the exceptional acoustics of the Église du Gesù. For the occasion, Quasar is pleased to renew its participation in the Société de musique contemporaine du Québec's Tribute series by producing a concert with the theme of identity.
The programme features premieres of works by award-winning composer Katia Makdissi-Warren and young Chinese composer Xue Han. There is also a reprise of Dániel Péter Biró's, Udvarim Achadim, which is based on four chants: a recitation of the Koran, a trope from the Jewish Torah, a Hungarian lament and a plainsong from Saint-Gallen. A piece by Israeli-Palestinian composer Samir Odeh-Tamimi completes the evening's program.
