Composer: Rico Gubler
Saxophone quartet

Loud-Speakers Version II is subtitled Easy-Listening. Rico Gubler, himself a saxophonist, knows exactly what he writes for the instrument. As he says about it: “A saxophone quartet is not a string quartet, although playing in a saxophone quartet involves thinking in the same way. By choosing two baritone saxophones and two tenor saxophones, I wanted to avoid the “traditional” sound and the hierarchy of the quartet." This work is very energetic. The slaps articulate the rhythmic structure while the glissandi emphasize the melodic aspect. The piece is based on a play of contrasts leading to a peaceful ending.

Loud-Speakers is dedicated to the Quatuor ARTE
