Contours
Contours for saxophone quartet was composed in 2014 for the Sirocco Quartet of London, England which they workshopped at the University of Lethbridge, which he revised in 2026 for the Quasar Quartet’s world premiere at the University of Lethbridge Centre for the Arts at the New Music Lab’s Contours and Unfamiliar Trials concert on September 26, 2006.
Contours is an experimental work that explores a tapestry of homophonic and contrapuntal textures and colours. Contours provides the ensemble a study for improvisation, experimentation, and sonic interrogation for a unique audience experience providing a different tapestry for each performance. The work is about the performers engaging in a conversation with each other creating a sound collage of luscious timbres and rhythmic counterpoint creating a variety of evocative textural landscapes.
