Azaya
(**Commissionned by Lithuanian Composers' Union
In a world where nature loses its power by negligence of human; where the world is filled with tremendous stress and anxiety, where humanity is overshadowed by anger and power to reign, as it seems, the frightening buzzing sounds and sonic violence becomes a new norm in our daily life. In this piece Azaya, music is a manifesto of lost peace and harmony. The single sound is divided into microtones, reminding the sound of bumblebees, which throughout the piece is transformed into the sonic warfare. The video, created by Lukas Miceika, is based on the electronic motor found in the predator drone engine. Throughout the piece it multiplies and accumulates into unmanned aerial aircraft. The piece was premiered by Quasar saxophone quartet on October 9th, at the Energy and Technology Museum in Vilnius, Lithuania, in 2024.
The piece Azaya is dedicated to my daughter.
