Zuriñe F. Gerenabarrena studied composition in Vitoria-Gasteiz with Carmelo Bernaola at the J. Guridi Conservatory, and with Franco Donatoni at the Civica Scuola di Musica Claudio Abbado in Milan. She is a versatile composer whose output encompasses instrumental works, including solo, chamber, and orchestral music, as well as compositions for dance, theatre, and animation. She has also created electroacoustic and mixed-media works and has taken part in numerous multidisciplinary projects.

Zuriñe has been an artist-in-residence at Tokyo Wonder Site (Japan), VICC in Visby (Sweden), USF/Verftet in Bergen (Norway), and Laboratorio LEC in Lisbon (Portugal). Alongside her creative work, she teaches harmony, counterpoint, and composition at Musikene, the Higher Centre for Music Studies of the Basque Country.
