Scott Rubin

Scott Rubin is a Chicago-born instrumental and electronic music composer currently living in California where he is pursuing a doctorate at Berkley University. He seeks to develop his relationship with music through aesthetics and auditory cognition. His music mixes intuitive adventures with the effort to delve into the peculiarities of auditory cognition and psychological abnormalities.


Scott's music has been performed in the United States, Canada, Colombia, France and Hong Kong, by ensembles such as Le Nouvel Ensemble Moderne, Quasar saxophone quartet, the New Music Ensemble of the University of Illinois, the JACK Quartet, the Phoebus Chamber Orchestra, the Arkea Ensemble, and several independent musicians. He lived for a few years in Montreal where he did a master's degree in composition at McGill University under the supervision of Philippe Leroux.
