Mikel Chamizo

Mikel Chamizo studied composition at Musikene, the centre for higher music learning of the Basque Country, with Ramon Lazkano, Gabriel Erkoreka and Stefano Scarani. His music has been performed in France, Switzerland, Italy, Poland, Sweden and Chile, as well as in several festivals and cycles / series such as the Venice Biennale, the Forum Wallis, Musica Electronica Nova, Le Quartz, and the Sound and Music Computing Conference.
His most recent projects include: "Navigare necesse est" (You have to navigate), a musical exploration of Juan Sebastián Elcano's first trip around the world, with the Basque National Orchestra and the Bilbao Choral Society; “Under Lockdown,” a series of 11 short piano pieces written during confinement; and, finally, his participation in the educational project “Soinua Iratzarri” (Awaken to the sound), a project that the San Sebastián 2016 committee selected as among the most remarkable initiatives of the European Capital of Culture.
