Composer and librettist Marie Pelletier has created more than sixty musical works since 1984. A graduate of the University of Montreal (Bachelor's degree in composition with Serge Garant and Master's degree in writing and composition technique with Massimo Rossi), she has the dual abilities of musical and dramatic writing. Most of her works have been performed, whether on the radio or at concert-shows both in Montreal and outside Quebec: Toronto, Calgary, Banff, United States, Ireland, Italy, Switzerland, Belgium, China, etc. For more than twenty years, Marie Pelletier has been interested in extra-Western music. This research influences her writing which, more specifically, integrates Eastern and Indian writing techniques. The human voice being her instrument of choice, she has written more than a third of her repertoire in the rare form of musical theatre.
