Julien Malaussena
(1980 - )
Julien Malaussena has developed, through his music, a categorization and grammar of the various behaviours of sound, which he calls articulated sonic energy. His work focuses on the direction, or absence of direction, inherent in each sonic entity, and on their capacity for articulation and interaction.
He has recently collaborated with the Abstrakt Trio, Ensemble Orbis, and the Laurent Dehors Trio, and is currently composing the music for a youth-oriented stage production with the Avès Duo and theatre director Sybille Wilson.
His music has been performed by numerous ensembles, including Ensemble Nikel, 2e2m, Xasax, Les Cris de Paris, the Moscow Contemporary Music Ensemble, the Ecce Ensemble, Ensemble Interface, Ensemble Surplus, the XAMP Duo, 20° dans le noir, Ensemble S201, Ensemble Fractales, L'Imaginaire, Schallfeld, the Barcelona Modern Ensemble, Wet Ink, Ensemble Nemø, the Tak Ensemble, Soundinitiative, Cairn, and the Neue Philharmonie Westfalen Orchestra.
