Chantale Laplante
( - )
Chantale Laplante was born in Rimouski where she received classical piano training. In Vancouver, she continued her studies in piano jazz and became a keyboardist for pop-rock and experimental music groups for a time. Back in Montreal, she decided to devote herself to composition (M. Mus, Univ. of Montreal) which so far has been like a long exploration of different genres, touching on instrumental, electroacoustic, mixed music, computer improvisation and sound installation, as evidenced by her catalog of more than 40 works/productions. In 2011, she began a reflection on the conditions of listening, which led her to take a particular interest in concert-installation (Ph. D., Études et pratiques des arts, UQAM). Today, she continues her research as part of the research-creation group Transgressive Sounds and Atmospheres and, of course, also her work on concert-installation.
