Annette Schlunz

Born in 1964 in Dessau (ex-GDR), Annette Schlünz studied composition, piano and conducting in Dresden and Berlin from 1983 to 1991. Until 2006, she worked as an artistic advisor for the Dresden Festival of contemporary music. Her catalogue includes solo works, chamber music, orchestral works, operas and mixed music. Her most recent opera “Tre volti”, commissioned by the SWR and the Siemens-Musikstiftung, premiered in 2017 at the Schwetzingen Festival in Germany. Her works have been performed all over the world. Annette Schlünz regularly gives composition masterclasses in Europe, Asia and South America, and every year since 2015 at the IMPULS Festival in Saxony-Anhalt. She is professor of composition at the Strasbourg Conservatory. Annette Schlünz received the Prix de Rome from the Villa Massimo in 1999, and was a laureate of the Forum of the Aleph ensemble in 2002, in addition to carrying out numerous residencies (Solitude Stuttgart, Höge Bremen, GRAME Lyon, “musiques démesurées” Clermont-Ferrand). A member of the Academy of Fine Arts in Dresden since 2010, Hamburg since 2011, and Berlin since 2021, Annette Schlünz has also sat on numerous international juries.
