Founded in 1977, the Escuela Superior de Música y Danza de Monterrey is one of Mexico’s most prestigious institutions for arts education. It is part of the National Institute of Fine Arts and Literature (INBAL) and stands out as the only higher-education institution in Mexico that trains professionals in both music and dance under the same roof.

Housed in a historic building, the “Escuela Superior” now welcomes over 1,000 students supported by 140 faculty members. Since its creation, it has marked a turning point in the cultural development of Nuevo León, contributing to a vibrant artistic landscape across the region.
With an artistic program featuring more than 200 performances each year, the ESMDM extends its influence far beyond Mexico’s borders. Its graduates are recognized for their excellence and work as musicians, singers, dancers, choreographers, and educators both nationally and internationally.
