Brisa Escobedo
Born in Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas, she began her professional dance studies in 1984 at the Superior School of Music and Dance of Monterrey (INBAL), graduating in 1991 with honors. For more than thirty years, she has been part of professional companies such as AMENTO, Danza Contemporánea en Concierto, Origen, Arte Móvil Danza Clan, and Valentina Castro Danza Teatro Mexicano. Her choreographic work, recognized in Mexico and abroad, has earned her numerous awards and distinctions. She has created nearly sixty choreographic works.
In 1997, she co‑founded the company Cuerpo Etéreo with choreographer Jaime Sierra, which has since become one of the strongest dance ensembles in northern Mexico. Her artistic work has been presented in Argentina, Colombia, Ecuador, the United States, Cuba, Canada, Ireland, Germany, and France.
A dancer, choreographer, and artistic director of Cuerpo Etéreo, she also has more than thirty years of teaching experience. She currently serves as Coordinator of the Contemporary Dance Degree Program at the Superior School of Music and Dance of Monterrey (INBAL) and as Artistic Director of Tropa UdeM Danza Contemporánea. She regularly offers professional development courses and creates choreographic works for various companies and institutions in Mexico and abroad.
During the 24th Metropolitan Contemporary Dance Meeting, she was honored for her artistic career. In 2018, she received first prize as Best Dancer at the National Dance Award Guillermo Arriaga (INBAL‑UAM) for her performance in Rojo Mexicano. With more than three decades of experience, she continues to stand out for her contributions to creation, performance, and education in contemporary dance.
