Fabian Blum

(2000 - )

Fabian Blum was born in 2000 in Siegburg near Bonn, and grew up near Berlin, where he received violin, piano, viola and organ lessons. From 2009 to 2014 he was part of the Staats- und Domchor Berlin, participating in concerts with well-known ensembles and artists such as the Berlin Philharmonic and the Rundfunkchor Berlin . He took composition lessons from Péter Kőszeghy from 2015 to 2019 at the Reinickendorfer Musikschule . Since 2019/20, Fabian has been studying composition with Moritz Eggert at the Munich University of Music and Performing Arts . Since 2021 he has also been the moderator of the ScoreFollowers Minecraft server, on which he creates compositions such as 13-competitive Minecraft version.

Fabian Blum has won several prizes for his work, including the 2nd prize at Jugend Kompiert Brandenburg and Jugend musiziert Berlin . He was a laureate of the composition workshop Opus One of the Berliner Philharmoniker twice. His pieces Der Wind, Das Meer, Die Weite and Abschied were premiered as part of the workshop at the Berliner Philharmonie. In 2020 one of his compositions was selected by the Carl von Ossietzky composition competition for their repertoire, and in 2021 he received an award from the same competition for his work Mehr als 15 Klavierkonzerte in unter 600 Sekunden. He also composed music for the theatrical concert Shuffle (2019) and for the short film Ben Quijote - und täglich grüßt... (2021) at the August Everding Theater Academy in collaboration with the dramaturgist Agnes Wiener. His compositions were performed several times at the Intersonanzen Festival for New Music in Potsdam and in 2021 at the Transparent Sound New Music Festival in Budapest.
