Homero Salazar

(1991 - )

Composer. Born in Monterrey, México in 1991. He began his composition studies with Eduardo Caballero at his composition workshop at Escuela Superior de Música y Danza de Monterrey. He then continued his studies at Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México studying Music and Artistic Technology under the tutelage of Rodrigo Sigal, Francisco Colasanto, and Juan Sebastián Lach.

Homero focuses his academic research in spatialization tools and techniques, and the development of ergonomic musical technology. Musically and aesthetically, he is interested in exploiting feelings of despair, anger and solitude through disruptive techniques and rhythms by contrasting them with a traditional music context.

He has completed artistic and academic research residencies at Hexagram at the Université du Québec à Montréal exploring spatialization techniques in a 3D context, as well as an artistic residency in the Centro de Compositores de Nuevo León. His music has been played around the world in cities such as Montreal, Riems, Paris, London, Los Angeles, Mexico City, Morelia, Monterrey and Xalapa. Also, he has reviewed his work with renowned composers, such as Roger Reynolds, Hilda Paredes, Joao Pedro Oliveira, Carola Bauckholt, Ignacio Baca Lobera, Felipe Pérez Santiago, Julio Estrada, Luis Jaime Cortez, Marco Aurelio Alvírez Rosas, among others.
