Ode au métal is a work by composer Sonia Paço-Rocchia for 4 saxophones plus large, modified metal sheets; musical welding; and treatment of sound in real time.

An amalgamation of musical theatre, instrumental notation and performative sound installation, Ode au métal is a sonic and visual experience in which the metal of saxophones and that of the sheets, multiplied tenfold through electronic manipulation, resonate. Breath, rubbing and electronic layers surround the public in a cathedral of metal; an unexpected tussle between humans and machines.

The concert will be preceded by the installment of a Fiery Encounter, at 7 pm at Espace Custeau. These round-table discussions, hosted by Philippe Leroux, are intended to give the creating music community a new forum for exchange and debate.
