Artificiel (A. Burton, J. Roy et J. Lakatos)

Artificiel is a Montreal-based digital creative group made up of Alexandre Burton, Julien Roy and Jimmy Lakatos. Together, they manipulate concepts that embrace new media, music and video in the form of installations and performances. Their production is transversal and joins as much the so-called "serious" music, the visual art, and the virtual manifestations of electronic art.

artificiel.process is an audiovisual platform conceived as a digital performance instrument. The integration of visual and audio sources in the same processing environment makes it possible to manipulate these mediums in synchrony, making the image and the sound reflections of each other. For La beauté de la brique brute, artificial.process ("quasar") in a direct and incisive manner, quasi-dogmatic. The non-linear capture and cutting of the musical gesture leads to a reconstruction which temporality and geometry correspond to the same rules, according to a process performed live. The essence of the discourse is the arbitrary brutality of the digitizing gesture and the resulting accumulation of media traces.
